County forests, a federal park (Apostle Islands National Lakeshore), Wisconsin DNR lands and tribal lands shape the Town?s demography. The Town of Russell is sparsely populated by rural residences and second and/or vacation homes. Farming and commercial fishing have declined, while logging is the primary commercial activity within the Town. The Town of Russell has a unique rural character and relative solitude which attracts people.
The Town of Russell Community Center is located in a private wooded area, the facility is well suited for weddings, parties, reunions, birthdays, or any special event. The facility can seat 100 with all tables and chairs provided. A fully equipped commercial kitchen is included for the preparation of food and a commercial ice maker.
A covered outdoor attached porch overlooks a grassed area with fire pit and seating area along with additional picnic table seating. The facility is air conditioned and is handicap accessible. A wooded walking trail is located behind the facility for your enjoyment.
